Day One – Mafefe in the Drakensberg Mountains
Meet your guide in Penge mining town at the TOTAL petrol station – S24° 22.756′ E30° 17.488’
Your trails starts with crossing the Olifants river (bridge nearby if river is in flood)
Follow very scenic mountainous 4×4 tracks into the Strydpoort Mountains, to Mafefe campsite in the Drakensberg Mountains (communal ablutions)
Day Two – Letaba Ranch Sector of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park
The tracks take you down the Drakensberg Escarpment, following the Makutsi mountain stream through the Lekgalameetse Nature Reserve, before you exit the Drakensberg Mountains into the Lowveld. Refuel at Gravelotte, before gravel roads take you to the Letaba Ranch Nature Reserve which is unfenced from Kruger National Park. Wild camping tonight next to the Baderoekwe river in Big Five country!
Day Three – Mthimkulu sector of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park
Explore the Park as you move towards the crossing of the Great Letaba River into the Mthimkulu Reserve. Make your way to the Little Letaba river and follow the tracks along the river with lovely views into the Kruger. Wild camping tonight on the banks of the Little Letaba river in Big Five country!
